Our Founders Background

Ed Jackson served as President/CEO/Shareholder of Runaway Tours Inc., a pioneer and market leader offering FIT travel packages to Hawaii, Mexico and Tahiti. Runaway Tours, headquartered in San Francisco, California, held offices in Los Angeles and Honolulu. Runaway maintained 150 employees. Supporting Runaway Tours Inc.’s marketing and sales team, Ed Jackson appointed seventeen full time business development managers located throughout the United States. As President & CEO, Ed Jackson worked closely with state and federal tourism offices, airlines, hotels and vendors, developing an array of strategic alliances & partnerships.

Ed Jackson served on the board of directors & executive committee of the (USTOA) as chairman, past chairman, vice chairman, treasurer & secretary of this organization for eleven years (1995-2006).

Ed served as General Manager of Hilton Tours, a subsidiary of Hilton Hotel Corporation. Ed reported directly to a senior VP of Hilton Hotel Corporation. In addition to Hilton Hotel’s corporate sales team, Ed’s role was to sell, book, organize and handle all aspects of business that was booked through Hilton Tours Inc. Ed also negotiated independent package programs (including air) to Hawaii, Mexico & the Caribbean. These packages were marketed & sold through travel agencies.

Kuoni Los Angeles, a subsidiary of Swiss based world wide Kuoni Travel Organization, covered the Western USA packaging and marketing escorted tours to Europe by charter air and escorted tours in Africa, the Middle East, Israel along with air inclusive FIT packages to Asia by scheduled air. As director of sales and marketing, Ed reported directly to senior management. In addition to managing the subsidiaries marketing and sales team, Ed was actively involved in product development, negotiations and airline contracting.

He was a member of the organization’s board of directors for eleven years (1995-2005).
